Artist's Comments

A pencil sketch from a few weeks ago turned into a quick and dirty CG (and I do mean quick and dirty), mostly to alleviate my frustration at the fact that the Unfortunate Events movie is out in the States right now and yet I won't be able to see it until January or so, DAMMIT.

I know there are bad perspective and proportion issues, and I'm sure I completely messed up on the style of his suit, but eh. It's Lemony Snicket fanart. I used to feel really really weird for fangirling Lemony Snicket; but now that he's being played by Jude freaking Law in the movie, I'm sure fangirls will be all over him.

If it makes you feel better they did a very good job with the movie so i think you'll like it. I like the picture. The coloring is gloomy and Dark and that's appropriate.

The errors don't detract a single thing from it, it even helps convey the circumstances better, I think... It looks great all quick and dirty =D.

And all men kill the thing they love,
By all let this be heard,
Some do it with a bitter look,
Some with a flattering word,
The coward does it with a kiss,
The brave man with a sword!

yes! series of unfortunate events fanart! I'm sure there's gonna be a lot more now, because of the movie. I dont' know if that's a good thing or not. But this is lovely. It's great how he's hidden. I mean... he IS lemony snicket after all.

You could, of course, see get to A Series of Unfortunate Events if you went to Virramall. ;) But that would ruin the movie experience, wouldn't it?

Anyway, I love this cg. It's simple but I like the dark colors and the mood of the whole thing. You'll have to teach me how to achieve that grainy watercolorey effect. It looks fun to do. Hmm...you also promised to teach me how to draw a cat, right?

(My only nitpick here would be his arm- the part attached to his wrist looks like it should be a bit longer. It's a minor thing, though. I love his hat!)

Like I said, bad perspective and proportion issues. And that grainy effect is the humble Photoshop Noise filter. Also, I'll definitely be grabbing a "Virramall Edition" DVD if I can find one, because otherwise the suspense could kill me. >.<

If you're a big fan of the books, I don't know how much you're going to like the movie, but for the record I didn't think it sucked. It just didn't bowl me (or my friends) over. But you absolutely have to sit through the ending credits - they're friggin' beautiful.

I saw-ed-ded the movie! It was okay.

But whoever their costume designer and head makeup artists were, I worship them. Their costumes, hair, and makeup were so uberly cool. -Steals Violet's blue dress-
